Football title highlight of season at Notre Dame

Victory in the Central Bowl capped undefeated campaign for the Fighting Irish senior squad

An Ontario senior football championship for the first time in school history and a gold medal at provincials for Ava Choma and Drew Kernaghan in mixed doubles in tennis were among the 2021-22 highlights in athletics at Notre Dame College School in Welland.

The Fighting Irish, whose senior team beat host North Park, 50-7, to cap an unbeaten season on the gridiron, also celebrated winning three golds at the Canadian Secondary Schools Rowing Association Regatta at an awards ceremony.

Besides finishing first in a senior women’s single, Madeson Scott teamed with Stasia Bittman to pace the field in a senior women’s double. Sophia Mcqueen, Sarah Schaefer, Ella Woodcock and Bittman won gold as members of the senior women’s quad.
