Little will change

Re: Property assessment delay will lead to tax bill ‘sticker shock’, June 24

The same thing happened in the 1980s when market value assessment was introduced and nothing really happened. Basically your tax bill should be the same.

If council sticks to its budget, the changes should be neutral, basically the same tax bill you had before.

The only things that change would be the assessment, which will be higher, and the tax rate which will be lower.

I really think council, and this newspaper, could have done a better job explaining how assessments and tax rates are calculated. Richard O’mara
